As part of Cobec’s planned leadership succession process, the company announces that Kevin Schutt, Chief Operations Officer, has been named CEO and will assume full responsibilities upon Mr. Paul’s departure.

“I have worked for and loved Cobec for the 13 years I’ve been here, and I am honored to follow in Michael’s footsteps and guide Cobec into this next phase,” said Kevin Schutt, Chief Operations Officer. “I thank Michael for his trust in me and the opportunities he has created for me and so many others.”

Over the last 15 years, Michael Paul converted a corporate vision and value proposition for the FAA into a diverse and entrepreneurial consulting firm, providing innovative product solutions for Cobec’s clients and analytics to support data-driven decision-making. Cobec is now a leading FAA consulting company for data science, visualizations, program acquisition, maintenance and logistics, and unmanned aircraft systems.

In the last six years, Cobec has won consecutive awards for Best Places to Work from the Washington Post, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and the Washingtonian Magazine.

George Bayer, Sr. Director of Services also comments, “Mr. Paul leaves a lasting foundation for government consulting and commercial innovation which Cobec will continue to expand across a growing customer base.”

“From the 2009 phone call offering me a job at Cobec, to inviting me to be a part of the leadership team, to recommending me as his successor, I have truly enjoyed working with Mike and learning from him,” said Kevin Schutt, Chief Operations Officer.  “I wish him all the best and look forward to new collaborations as Cobec strengthens our commitment to the success of our employees, partners, and ultimately, our clients.”

Michael Paul, Chief Executive Officer says, "I want to congratulate Kevin Schutt in his new role as Chief Executive Officer, thank him for his 13 years of leadership and contributions to the innovative, disciplined, and people-first culture of the company, and embrace his vision for Cobec’s continued evolution over the next 15 years. Kevin has played an integral role in Cobec’s leadership and growth, serving as Director of Finance in 2015 and Chief Operations Officer (COO) since 2019. In these roles, Kevin brought financial discipline, structure to our bid and proposal process, and accountability to our director-level leadership.”

As Schutt assumes full CEO responsibilities, he will transition his COO and CFO responsibilities across senior leadership and an expanded corporate operations team.  Cobec remains focused on its mission:  a people-centered consulting company that helps organizations improve processes, decision-making, and performance.
